I am just over 30% of the way towards my goal of raising $4,000 for Team Challenge and CCFA! Whether it is $5, $50, or $500 (yes, please!) if you have the means, every donation is greatly appreciated.
Also, you can follow along with my training at http://billrunskona.tumblr.com/ and make fun of how terrible I am at running.

Mixtape vol 2
In an effort to relive the magic of making mixtapes back in the day, I’m making mixtapes again! These songs aren’t necessarily my favorite songs or anything but they are a great sampling of what you would hear if you were sharing earbuds with me.
I tried this out with Volume 1 a few months back and I loved it so much that volume 2 is now ready to go just in time for...

Foreshadowings
Last years version of this didn’t turn out so well with a 47% success rate but I’m going to give it another go and see if I can’t improve on that a bit this time around. So without further ado, here we go!

2010 Foreshadowings Review
At the start of last year, I made an attempt to predict / hope what the year ahead had in store. Since I’m kind of a statistics geek, I figured I’d see how it worked out. Here are the results:
Successes in bold, misses in strikethrough
Things that will happen this year: (3/5 - 60%)
5 (6? Maybe a 7th?) Weddings between June and October. One in Seattle, one on the west coast, and...

2011 Year In Review
Similar to last year, I’m going to do another year in review for 2011. I like lists and I like them even more when they are grouped so the format will be the same as 2010. Everyone ready? Let’s do this:
January
I did some foreshadowings, results of which will be a later post
Kicked off an Epic iTunes music quest
Restlesssoul turned 8 years old

How to Have the Best Year or Your Life...
Instead of Goals
There is an alternative to setting goals that will bring you closer to the life you want. Focus on a few practices you can enjoy doing on a regular basis. The trick here is consistency. These four helped me:
Get up early. When the world wakes up, distractions abound. If you are going to focus on creating a new life for yourself, you’ll need to find the time. The best way to do...

Idea: Craigslist Meetup Mobile App
No, not that kind of meetup… Craigslist will anonymize your email address when you post but you still end up needing to hand over personal and private information like an address or phone number to finalize the sale. The Craigslist Meetup App would fix this by automatically setting up a private environment for the seller and buyer that could do anything from set a meeting place/time...

A New Model of Empathy: The Rat →
In a simple experiment, researchers at the University of Chicago sought to find out whether a rat would release a fellow rat from an unpleasantly restrictive cage if it could. The answer was yes.
The free rat, occasionally hearing distress calls from its compatriot, learned to open the cage and did so with greater efficiency over time. It would release the other animal even if there wasn’t the...

Trying Something New #mixtape →
I tend to get into grooves of music and listen to the same stuff over and over for a given period of time. Once I start to get tired of those songs or find new music, I move on and adjust my playlists accordingly. I am always curious to look back at what group of songs I was listening to 6 months, 1 year, or 10 years ago so I came up with an idea to start taking snapshots of my favorite music....

Life In Ohio
Last weekend I attended the wedding of my college roommate who now regrettably lives in Columbus, OH. Immediately after landing at the airport I got my rental car and headed to a local Starbucks to poke around online until my date for the weekend arrived. Which is where I crafted the following email to multiple people out of pure shock and awe:
I have been here no more than 30 minutes and have...
